The Jeep Grand Cherokee was one of the star performers in September, reinforcing Chrysler Australia's impressive increase in sales for the second month in a row.

The VFACTS figures show that the Jeep Grand Cherokee sold 445 units nationwide in September, leading the car to dominate the luxury SUV segment with almost 300 more units than the closest competitor.

Chrysler Australia national sales general manager Veronica Johns said last month that the August results were pleasing and satisfying customer demand would continue to be a priority.

"I said last month that the Jeep Grand Cherokee sales results were only the beginning, so I’m delighted to see September’s delivery so strong," Johns said.

"The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is the best value premium SUV in the Australian market. Its power, performance, safety features and luxurious interiors are comparable to that of European SUV contenders, but from just $45,000." The Jeep Grand Cherokee sold over 500 units in August.

"We’re also receiving fantastic response to the long-awaited new diesel variant of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Alongside our new V6 petrol, we’ve got the tools to drive more success," Johns said.
