February 2012
Following on from the recent launch of the 2012 Jeep Compass, Australia is scheduled to receive the Jeep Patriot SUV with front-wheel-drive, at a more affordable price.
The Jeep Patriot is now the cheapest model in the Jeep range with a savings of between $2,000 and $5,000, depending on the transmission.
While the front-wheel drive variants of the Jeep Patriot are powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with 115 kilowatts of power, the addition of the 4x2 model - and its smaller petrol engine - improves fuel efficiency by up to 10 per cent.
The Jeep Patriot will also feature four-wheel ABS disc brakes, hill-start assist and electronic stability control with brake assist, as well as electronic roll mitigation, traction control and brake lock differentials.
The Jeep Patriot Sport models also possess additional features which include 17-inch alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel, roof-rails, cruise control and auxiliary audio connectivity. There are also standard safety features including driver and front-passenger airbags and side curtain airbags.
In other Jeep news - the Jeep Cherokee - is expected to appear on the Australian market in a rear-wheel-drive option and powered by a V6 petrol engine in March 2012.
The Jeep range of cars can be viewed and taken out for a test drive at Macarthur Automotive - Jeep dealership in Sydney.
