New Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 'to give BMW X5M a run for its money'

January 2012

The new 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, scheduled to arrive on Aussie shores in March, could provide plenty of competition for more expensive SUVs in its class, according to one writer.

Writing for Drive in the Sydney Morning Herald, Bruce Newton asserts that the new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 could give the Mercedes-Benz ML63 and the BMW X5M a run for their money - quite literally - as its retail price (before on-road costs) is tipped to be thousands of dollars less than its competitors.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, Newton writes, is a perfect blend of comfort, extreme performance and capability.

"Move beyond suburbia and you'll find a vehicle that is capable of smoothly flowing along a country highway or inter-city freeway with a minimum of fuss or behaviour," he noted.

Described by the manufacturer as "the ultimate performance SUV", the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is the most powerful model ever released by Jeep.

The Jeep SUV comes with all-new SRT high-performance Brembo Brakes, complete with a four-wheel anti-lock brake system.

Drivers will also benefit from features including adapting damping, transmission shift strategy and stability control. You can visit a Jeep dealer in Sydney today to test drive the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
